Puppy Found Abandoned in Hamden Dumpster

Police are seeking information in the case. The puppy was transported to the North Haven Animal Shelter.

The Hamden Animal Control responded to the Hamden Plaza, 2100 Dixwell Avenue, regarding a roaming dog complaint on Sept. 22.

Capt. Ronald Smith said investigation revealed that a female restaurant employee observed an abandoned puppy inside of a dumpster, while she was disposing of trash.

The abandoned puppy, described as a brown-colored Staffordshire Terrier, was quickly removed from the dumpster. She subsequently contacted Hamden Police.

The Staffordshire Terrier was transported to the North Haven Animal Shelter, according to Smith.
