Quinnipiac Stuns Miami, Advances To Sweet 16 In NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament
The Bobcats upset No. 4 Miami in the second round on Monday night.

HAMDEN, CT — The Quinnipiac women’s basketball team continued its historic run with a thrilling 85-78 upset victory over No. 4 Miami in the second round of the NCAA tournament Monday night at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.
With the win, the 12th-seeded Bobcats advanced to the Sweet 16 and will face South Carolina, the No. 1 seed in the Stockton region, on Saturday, March 25 at 1 p.m.
Quinnipiac (29-6) became the fourth 12th-seed in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history to advance to the Sweet 16, joining BYU in 2014, Kansas in 2013 and San Francisco in 1996. In addition, Quinnipiac becomes the fourth team in history to defeat a No. 5 and No. 4 seed to advance to the Sweet 16.

Southbury’s Morgan Manz scored a career-high 22 points to lead a balanced offensive attack for the Bobcat, which featured seven players with eight points or more.
Manz converted on 7-of-9 shots from the floor, including a single-game career-best 6-of-8 from 3-point range. Manz's six 3-pointers tied a single-game program record at Quinnipiac.

Aryn McClure scored 15 points, while Paula Strautmane finished with nine points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and a pair of steals. Sarah Shewan had 11 points and six rebounds with two blocked shots off the bench.
Stratford’s Carly Fabbri, a junior, finished with eight points and four assists.
