Quinnipiac University will host book reading, Q&A with acclaimed author Edgar Gomez on March 27

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University will host a book reading and question and answer session with acclaimed writer Edgar Gomez on Wednesday, March 27.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 4:30 p.m. in Room 120 of the Carl Hansen Student Center on the Mount Carmel Campus. It is part of Quinnipiac's Creative Writing Series.
Gomez will read from his debut memoir, “High-Risk Homosexual,” which was called a “breath of fresh air” by The New York Times.
“High-Risk Homosexual” was named a Best Book of 2022 by Publisher’s Weekly, Buzzfeed and Electric Literature. It also received a 2023 American Book Award, a Stonewall Israel-Fishman Nonfiction Book Honor Award and the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Memoir.
Following the reading, Gomez will take part in a Q&A with the audience. The discussion will be moderated by Bessie Flores Zaldivar, assistant teaching professor of English.
Gomez is a Florida-born writer with roots in Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. Gomez's words have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Poets & Writers, Lithub, the Rumpus and beyond. Gomez’s second book, a darkly comic memoir about growing up poor in Florida in the early 2000s is titled, “Alligator Tears,” will be out in 2025 from Crown.
