Quinnipiac University will host singer and composer Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez in concert on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The event is part of QU’s Frank J. Natale Concert Series.
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University will host singer and composer Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 in the Black Box Theater, 515 Sherman Ave.
The event is part of Quinnipiac’s Frank J. Natale Concert Series. Tickets, $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors and those with Quinnipiac identification, can be purchased by clicking here.
Sokolov-Gonzalez, of New York, will present her program of original music and original arrangements of classic songs. Combining familiar sonic palettes with lyrical precision, the program will be intimate and inspiring. From the history of last names to following a dream, Sokolov-Gonzalez sews a tapestry of both personal and collective stories, and how we find each other in between.
Nestled within the original work, this program also includes arrangements of classic songs. From Jazz standards to Joni Mitchell, Sokolov-Gonzalez’s unique voice bridges genre and style to create a cohesive and engaging night of music.
An artist in residence at Millay Center for the Arts (2023), Ancram Center for the Arts (2024), and member of the Joe’s Pub Working Group (2024-25), Sokolov-Gonzalez is dedicated to authentic work that staddles many traditions and sparks conversation and connection within the performance space and within each listener.
The Frank J. Natale Music Series brings talented performers from a variety of musical backgrounds, including jazz, classical and contemporary music styles, to the Mount Carmel Campus each year.
