Quinnipiac University Students Surprise Sociology Professor

Students at Quinnipiac University recently organized an emotional goodbye to mark the end of their "Introduction to Sociology" class.

HAMDEN, CT – Students at Quinnipiac University recently organized an emotional goodbye to mark the end of their “Introduction to Sociology” class. Watch it here.


Nina Pezzello, a first-year journalism major, and her classmates wanted to thank Professor Catherine Solomon for being so helpful and understanding.

“I was a little nervous going to college mostly online,” Pezzello said. “I didn’t know how I was going to adapt to it. Professor Solomon was very inclusive, and she found ways to make everything super fun despite being over Zoom.”

On the last day of class on Dec. 4, Pezzello and her more than 30 other students all turned on their Zoom cameras at once, revealing handwritten signs and heart-warming messages. The students posted their Zoom surprise on social media, where it has attracted more than one million views.

“I was and still am so touched by my students’ surprise during the last day of class,” said Solomon, who has taught at Quinnipiac for 16 years. “That was so sweet of them. It was a wonderful way to end the semester and a tough year. It’s a moment I will cherish forev
