Record Store Owners Want Stolen Sign Returned In Hamden
The owners are asking for help getting the stolen sign back & are giving the thief until Monday for it to be returned with no repercussions.

HAMDEN, CT — The owners of a record store in Hamden are asking for help getting their stolen sign returned. Replay Records, a used vinyl, cassette, and CD store located at 2586 Whitney Avenue in Hamden, recently had its sign stolen from the store and the owners want it back. Replay Records has been in operation since 1989 and was previously located in New Haven and West Haven before moving to Hamden in 2007.
“Recently, someone decided that they could come to our store and steal our sign,” Mary, one of the store’s owners, wrote in a post on Facebook. “It's the long, yellow sign that bordered the door on the left hand side. We had this sign made for us by our dear friend back in 1989, when we first opened Replay in New Haven. While signs aren't something that I hold emotional love over, I do have nostalgic love for this sign and how far Doug and I have come in our business.
“To the person who stole it or someone who knows who did, I ask this. Return it. Leave it at the back door between now and Monday and there will be no repercussions. IF it isn't returned, and IF someone comes forward giving me information on who stole it, then and only then will I bring charges. You defaced our business, you disrespected our property and you really, really screwed with the vibe of what a local record store is about. It's peace, love and music, not violation and stealing. Return it please, immediately.”
