Retired Hamden Police K-9 Titan Passes Away

Titan served the Hamden Police Department for more than 10 years.

Retired Hamden Police K-9 “Titan” has passed away, the department announced on its Facebook page.

Titan died on Dec. 30, 2014. He was born March 3, 2002 in Slovakia and joined the Hamden Police Department in September 2003.Titan served the Hamden Police Department for more than 10 years with his handler Sergeant Jason Venditto until he retired in October 2013.

Titan served as a patrol dog and was cross trained in explosives detection. Over his career Titan earned numerous commendations and letters of recognition for his work. Titan was a three time recipient of one of the Daniel Wasson K-9 awards in 2006, 2010, and 2011 given by the Connecticut Police Work Dog Association for Top K-9 teams in the State.

Titan was also the recipient of the Day Spring Lodge Police Officer of the Year Award in 2009.

Titan enjoyed retirement with the Sergeant Venditto and his family and took one final tour on Dec. 29.

“Thank You ‘Titan’ for your Dedicated Service. RIP,” the department posted on Facebook.
