Revaluation Information:
The data collection phase will soon be underway. Tyler personnel will assist the Assessor’s Office in reconciling a variety of information that is maintained by the office. This includes, but is not limited to, updating new construction, general residential building permits, income and expense data of commercial parcels, sales verification and validation, and neighborhood sales analysis.
To ensure the safety of our citizens, data collectors will carry a letter of identification from the Assessor’s Office, a photo ID badge, and they will have their cars registered with the Hamden Police Department. All property owners and tenants are respectfully requested to cooperate with data collectors to ensure that accurate information is used in the revaluation process. The accuracy of data is vital to the uniformity of assessments.
Valuation work will continue throughout the 2024 calendar year. A data mailer will be sent to all residential property owners in the spring of 2024. The data mailer will give homeowners the opportunity to review the data on file for their property. Instructions will be provided on how to return the form to Tyler Technologies once the review is complete. The notices of the new values will be mailed to property owners in the fall of 2024.
Residents will have the option of meeting with representatives of the revaluation staff to review the updated proposed assessments if needed at that time. If a property owner has questions or concerns, they may call the Department of Assessment at 203-287-7128. Please look for updates to this process as it continues throughout the year on the Town of Hamden’s website.
