Sacred Heart Academy Raises More Than $60K On ‘Giving Tuesday’

The Hamden school surpassed its goal by raising more than $60,000 on the global day of giving.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Sacred Heart Academy): On Tuesday, Nov. 27, Sacred Heart Academy marked its 5th #GivingTuesday, the global day of giving that kicks off the giving season for everyone, everywhere. Encouraging personal philanthropy and charitable giving during the holiday season, #GivingTuesday embraces the Sacred Heart spirit of service and community.

To honor this milestone anniversary, several new initiatives were put in place. In addition to gifts being made online at sacredhearthamden.org/givingtuesday, there were two additional ways to donate this year:

Donors were able to make gifts on Facebook without ever having to leave the platform and, early gifts (starting at 8 a.m.) were matched by Facebook and PayPal, up to $7 million.

Donors were also able to make gifts through Text2Fund on Sacred Heart’s new software for short-term campaigns.

But the best news yet… the Sacred Heart Academy Advisory Council established a generous $30,000 Matching Challenge! To incentivize and inspire the Sacred Heart community to donate, Council members matched #GivingTuesday gifts dollar-for-dollar creating an opportunity to multiply the impact of every gift, no matter the size.

Advancement Associate Holly Fink (of Hamden) said, "Because of generous donors and the Advisory Council Match we surpassed our goal raising more than $60,000 this year! #GivingTuesday is one of my favorite days of the year. The spirit of the school community and the generosity from so many is truly moving. Though just a single day, the impact on our students is immeasurable. We look forward to #GivingTuesday 2019!"
