Sacred Heart Academy Wins SCC Girls Basketball Championship: PHOTOS
The Sharks won a defensive battle with sixth-seeded Sheehan to claim their second straight SCC championship.
HAMDEN, CT — Sacred Heart Academy defeated sixth-seeded Sheehan 34-27 to win the SCC girls basketball championship Monday at M&T Bank Arena on the campus of Quinnipiac University in Hamden.
It was the second straight SCC championship for Sacred Heart Academy and its fifth overall. The top-seeded Sharks were playing in their sixth straight SCC final, while it was Sheehan’s first-ever appearance in the championship game.
Sacred Heart Academy defeated rival Hamden 56-43 in last year’s SCC championship game.

Freshman Finley Gunning led Sacred Heart Academy (19-2) with 10 points, while Mila Harmon had nine points and Madelyn Burke added six.
Megan Wresien scored a game-high 15 points for Sheehan (19-5), while Jenna Wresien finished with eight points.
