Update: Hamden Man in Critical Condition After Wednesday Morning Crash

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. in the area of Ridge Road and Pickwick Road.

Update, 2:15 p.m.

A Hamden man is in critical condition following a Wednesday morning crash in the area of Ridge Road and Pickwick Road.

Alex Soto, 30, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries, Police Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release. Smith also said that a passerby, who is a nurse practitioner at Yale-New Haven Hospital, quickly performed CPR on Soto at the scene.

Hamden police responded to the scene at 7:52 a.m. and investigation revealed that Soto was traveling northbound on Ridge Road. Smith said Soto’s vehicle crossed the double yellow lined street markings and struck a vehicle that was traveling southbound on Ridge Road.

The vehicle was operated by a North Haven woman with her two children in the vehicle. Smith said the woman and her children weren’t injured in the crash.

One person was rushed to the hospital shortly after 8 a.m. after being involved in a two-vehicle crash reported on Ridge Road near Pickwick Road, WFSB 3 reports.

Ridge Road is currently closed and police urge motorists to use Hartford Turnpike.

Three other people were involved in the accident but they refused medical treatment.

Police are investigating the accident.
