Several Storm Drain Gates Stolen In Hamden: Police

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating the theft of several storm drain gates over the past few weeks in Hamden.

The thefts occurred at various locations throughout town, and often on isolated streets, police said.

“Besides the financial impact this causes the town, it also creates a serious hazard to anyone walking or driving near the basins,” police wrote in a news release. “The Hamden Police Department is actively investigating these thefts. Any suspicious activity that is observed near catch basins should be reported to police. Any resident with video surveillance, that can assist police in these investigations, is also encouraged to contact police. Callers may remain anonymous.

“If a storm drain grate is missing in your neighborhood, please immediately contact the Hamden Police Department to report the theft at 203-230-4000.”
