Sex Offender Arrested On Child Porn Charge: Hamden Police

The man, who is on probation for possessing child pornography, faces a new charge, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man with previous convictions of possessing child pornography was recently arrested on a new charge, according to police.

Hamden Police were contacted by Adult Probation on Dec. 22, 2016 with information linking Craig Bald to child pornography, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Bald, 53, is currently on probation for possessing child pornography.

Smith said investigation revealed that Bald was in the possession of a cell phone that contained 11 still images, which “appear to be child pornographic in nature.”

Officer Shawn Nutcher conducted further investigation that led to the application of an arrest warrant for Bald.

Hamden Police arrested Bald on March 23 at New Haven Superior Court.

Bald, of Goodrich Street, was charged with third-degree possession of child pornography. He was detained on a court-ordered $25,000 and was arraigned in court later in the day.

Bald was previously convicted of possession of child pornography charges in 2010 and is currently on the state’s Sex Offender Registry.
