Smoke Shop Robbed at Gunpoint: Hamden Police

The armed robbery occurred in the afternoon hours during Saturday's snowstorm.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police are investigating after the Hamden Smoke Shop was robbed at gunpoint during Saturday’s snowstorm.

Hamden Police responded to the shop, located at 1461 Dixwell Avenue, at about 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 on the report of an armed robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and pointed it at the clerk and demanded money.

The suspect then fled northbound on Dixwell Avenue with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Smith.

A Hamden Police K-9 track was conducted with negative results, Smith said.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 years old, and is 5-feet, 9-inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a mask and gloves, according to Smith.
