Special Brush & Tree Limb Cleanup Continues In Hamden
The special brush and tree limb collection that began after Tropical Storm Isaias is still ongoing in Hamden, according to officials.

HAMDEN, CT — The special brush and tree limb cleanup that began after Tropical Storm Isaias is still ongoing in Hamden, Mayor Curt Leng and Public Works Director Craig Cesare announced in a joint news release Wednesday.
“The Public Works Department has committed crews to full-scale removal efforts throughout the Town and are managing an enormous amount of debris across neighborhoods in Hamden,” the news release states. “Public Works appreciates the patience and understanding of residents as the removal of storm debris is completed.”
Curbside pickup of brush and limbs began Aug. 17 and is occurring on a “single-pass-per-street” basis. Residents who have already had their brush piles collected “should understand that any further bundles for disposal will be the responsibility of the homeowner and will not be collected by Public Works,” according to the release.

“Residents must put brush and limbs at the curb,” the release states. “Normally the Town only takes small amounts of brush during leaf season, but due to the extraordinary weather events, the Town is taking the extra steps to assist. Please be sure to have all of the tree limbs and brush out to the curb in neat piles no more than 6 feet long, as there will be only one opportunity to utilize this added service. Please note that Public Works will only accept brush and tree limbs of manageable size, stumps and tree trunks will not be accepted. Grass and construction debris will not be accepted.”
Residents seeking an alternate disposal option can bring their debris to the Hamden Transfer Station, 231 Wintergreen Ave, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Transfer Station is currently closed on Saturdays.
