Special Weather Statement Issued for Hamden
Besides 90-degree heat to contend with there are several chances for storms at the end of the week and this weekend.

We know it's going to be hot and humid today but the National Weather Service has also issued a "Special Weather Statement" for New Haven County for this afternoon.
In the statement, the NWS states "elevated threat for brush fire spread this afternoon."
"Hot temperatures and westerly wind gusts of 20 to 25 MPH are expected this afternoon. Relative humidity values will drop to the lower 30s percent range during this time. While the area received some rainfall yesterday much of it was less than one quarter of an inch. Input from fire officials indicated the forecast weather conditions and recent abnormally dry weather will result in elevated fire weather concerns for today," the NWS states.

Thursday, 89 is the forecast high and more sunshine.
Beginning Friday and running through the entire weekend there is a chance for thunderstorms each day. Friday is forecast to be mostly cloudy while it's expected to be partly sunny on Saturday and Sunday with highs just in the mid 80s.
The chance for storms on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is between 30-40 percent currently. As we know with stormy weather, one side of town gets a thunder and lightning show, while the other side sees bright sunshine.
We'll keep updating the forecast.
