‘Suspicious’ Fire Investigated In Hamden: Police

Police say a Good Samaritan extinguished a fire that was burning on the exterior wall of a specific apartment early Thanksgiving morning.

HAMDEN, CT — Authorities are investigating a “suspicious” fire that occurred on Treadwell Street early Thanksgiving morning. At about 12 a.m. on Nov. 23, the Hamden police and fire departments responded to Hamden Village, 188 Treadwell Street on the report of a structure fire, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said officers “ascertained that the fire was burning on the exterior wall of a specific apartment.”

A Good Samaritan used a fire extinguisher and a bucket of water to smother the fire, according to Smith. A person was treated at the scene for possible smoke inhalation.
