HAMDEN, CT — The Legislative Council recently approved a $286 million budget for 2023-24 that carries a tax rate increase of 0.9 mills, according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reports the council’s approved budget increases the tax rate from 55.48 mills to 56.38, but represents a smaller increase than the 1.31-mill increase that was in Mayor Lauren Garrett’s proposed budget.

Garrett does not plan to veto the council’s budget and intends to sign off on it when it reaches her desk, according to the Register.
