Taxi Driver Robbed at Knifepoint in Hamden

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

A taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint by a person he drove from the New Haven train station into Hamden Monday night.

Hamden police responded to Mill Rock Road at about 9 p.m. on Dec. 8 on the report of a robbery involving a knife, Police Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Smith said Investigation revealed that the taxi driver transported the man from the New Haven train station to Mill Rock Road. Upon approaching the intersection of Newhall Street and Mill Rock Road, the passenger held a knife to the driver’s chest, while demanding money.

The individual subsequently fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Smith.

The taxi driver suffered minor lacerations to his hands.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6-feet, 2-inches tall with a medium build, with “facial scruff,” according to Smith.
