Teen, 13, Charged In Armed Robbery: Hamden Police

Police said the 13-year-old boy was found in the possession of a Sig Sauer facsimile BB gun.

HAMDEN, CT — A 13-year-old New Haven resident has been charged in connection with the armed robbery of two women in Hamden. Police responded to Lexington Street around 12:30 a.m. on July 18 on the report of an armed street robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Two women told police they were approached by three teenaged males. One of the teens pointed a gun at them and demanded their belongings, according to Smith. The teens then stole a purse.

Moments later, Officer Luis Rivera saw three teens running through yards on Bradley Avenue. Rivera found one of the teens hiding in a backyard, under a stairway, according to Smith.

Smith said the teen was in the possession of a Sig Sauer facsimile BB gun. The other two juveniles got away.

The 13-year-old New Haven resident was charged with carrying a facsimile firearm and third-degree criminal trespass. He was released to the custody of his mother. He will appear in New Haven Juvenile Court at a later date and time, according to Smith.
