Teen, 16, Charged In Theft Of Purse While Woman Pumped Gas: Hamden PD
The suspects arrived in a stolen vehicle and stole the woman's cell phone and purse, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — A 16-year-old Hamden resident has been arrested in connection with the theft of a woman’s purse while she was pumping gas, according to police.
Police responded to Alltown Fresh at 1941 Dixwell Ave. around 7 a.m. on Jan. 31 on the report of a theft, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.
An investigation found that the customer had her cell phone and purse stolen from her vehicle while she was pumping gas, Dolan said.

Dolan said the purse and cell phone were taken from the unlocked passenger side of the vehicle. The suspects arrived and left from the parking lot in a stolen vehicle, according to Dolan.
An attempt was later made to make fraudulent transactions on the victim’s bank account, Dolan said.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested March 30 and charged with criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny. He is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court for Juvenile Matters on April 12.
Dolan said police are continuing to investigate the incident.
