Teen, 18, Charged In Shooting In Hamden: Police

A home was struck by gunfire in connection with the shooting, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — An 18-year-old Bridgeport resident has been arrested in connection with a shooting Thursday night in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Helen Street and Murray Street around 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 14 on the report of shots fired, according to Lt. Raymond Quinn.

Quinn said officers found ballistic evidence in the street. Police also found that a Helen Street residence had been struck by gunfire, according to Quinn.

No injuries were reported, Quinn said.

Quinn said detectives have been “actively working on this investigation” since Thursday night and a gun believed to have been involved with the incident was found early Friday morning and a suspect was identified.

Kimani Morris was arrested Friday and charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond with a court date of Dec. 29.

Quinn said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident, and police are continuing to investigate.

“I want to commend our officers and detectives for a job well done in bringing this investigation to a swift conclusion,” Hamden Police Chief E. P. Reynolds said in a statement. “I’d also like to assure our citizens that the members of Hamden Police Department will continue to work tirelessly to bring to justice those who jeopardize the safety of our community.”
