Teen, 18, Hospitalized After Shooting In Hamden: Police

The victim was taken to the hospital by a family member, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — An 18-year-old Hamden resident is in stable condition after being shot Wednesday afternoon in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to Helen Street around 3:30 p.m. on July 19 on the report of a possible shooting, according to Acting Hamden Police Chief Timothy F. Wydra.

Officers began investigating the complaint, and Wydra said a short time later, Yale-New Haven Hospital contacted the Hamden Police Dispatch Center and advised that they had an 18-year-old Hamden resident who had entered the emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound.

Wydra said the investigation determined that the shooting victim had been shot on Helen Street and was taken to the hospital by a family member.

The Crime Scene Unit is processing the scene and the Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the shooting, according to Wydra.
