Teen, 18, Stole Cash Register in Hamden Burglary: Police
Police said the suspect entered a Krauszer's by smashing the front door with large stones and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

HAMDEN, CT — An 18-year-old from Branford has been charged with stealing a cash register and two money drawers during a burglary at a Krauszer’s Food Store in Hamden, according to police.
On Oct. 13, shortly after midnight, Hamden Police responded to Krauszer’s Food Store, located at 1959 State Street, on the report of a burglar alarm.
Upon arrival, Officer Robert Villano observed that the front exterior door was shattered. Investigation revealed that two large stones were used to gain entry, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said once inside, the suspect stole a cash register and two money drawers. An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the burglary.
Detective Scott Levenduski conducted an investigation that led to the application of an arrest warrant for Brandon Downing.

Hamden Police arrested Downing on an arrest warrant on Dec. 27.
Downing, 18, of Stonegate Circle in Branford, was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree criminal mischief. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 10.
