Teen Caught with Marijuana Tried to Flee from Officers: Hamden Police

Police were investigating complaints of potential drug dealing in the area.

HAMDEN, CT — A 17-year-old Hamden resident was arrested for marijuana possession on Tuesday evening while police were investigating complaints of potential drug dealing in the area of Mix Avenue.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 20, members of the Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team were conducting surveillance in the 800 block of Mix Avenue. Police have received numerous complaints about potential drug dealing in the area, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said Street Interdiction Team members arrested the teen, who was in the possession of 7 grams of marijuana. While officers attempted to arrest the juvenile, he attempted to drive away in his motor vehicle, according to Smith.

The teen was charged with possession of marijuana and interfering with a police officer. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on Jan. 9.
