Teen Shot To Death In Hamden: Police

An 18-year-old Hamden resident has died from injuries after being shot multiple times near the Farmington Canal on Monday.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden teen has died from injuries sustained after being shot multiple times near the Farmington Canal on Monday afternoon, according to police. At about 4 p.m. on Nov. 13, Hamden Police responded to Dudley Street on the report of a shooting.

Moments later, officers found Leeandre Benton, 18, of Hamden, lying near the Farmington Canal Trail, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Benton had been shot multiple times.

Benton was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning, according to Smith.

The Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit are conducting the investigation.
