Unique Donut Shop Permanently Closes In Hamden, Owner Announces

HAMDEN, CT — Mighty Donuts has permanently closed after nearly four “incredible” years in Hamden, the owner announced this week.

The unique mini-donut shop opened its new location at 1700 Dixwell Ave. in March 2025, shortly after it closed its original location at 1166 Dixwell Ave. in Hamden.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every customer, friend, family member, and supporter who walked through our doors, shared our posts, celebrated with us, and made this dream possible,” a post on the shop’s Facebook page reads. “Your kindness and support have meant more than words can express.

“We are truly grateful for the memories we’ve made together. Thank you for being part of our journey.”

Mighty Donuts featured mini-donuts with a variety of toppings, along with freshly squeezed lemonade and other drinks.

Shortly after opening in the new location on Dixwell Avenue, Mighty Donuts owner Yericka Estrada said the store had been “amazing” and the change was noticeable, despite only moving a few miles down the road.

Estrada said at the time that they decided to move because “we wanted to provide a safer environment to our clients and employees, better lighting, parking spaces, etc.”

In the comments under the Facebook post announcing the closure, Estrada teased the potential for a possible return down the road, or a different business.

In a translation from a post that was written in Spanish, Estrada wrote that “it's a ‘see you next time’, because we never know what the future holds. Maybe someday we will come back stronger or with something different. For now, I'm going to take some time to rest, devote to my family, and continue to grow professionally. Thank you for being with us for these almost four years.”
