Victim Identified In Fatal Hit-And-Run, Hamden Police Seek Driver

Police are asking for the public's help with identifying the driver of a fleeing vehicle in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in a hit-and-run earlier this week as Melissa Reddick, 51, of Hamden. Reddick was struck while she was crossing Dixwell Avenue in the vicinity of Morse Street at about 2 a.m. on July 1. Police have released surveillance images and video of the fleeing vehicle and are asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the operator and/or the vehicle that struck and killed Reddick.

Police believe that the vehicle is a “tan/champagne colored full-sized Sports Utility Vehicle” and it should have “passenger side front fender and front-end damage,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith. The vehicle appears to have distinctive amber running lights that are located above the front windshield, silver/chrome rims and dark tinted windows, according to Smith.

Investigators believe that the fleeing vehicle is possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade.
