Victim Identified In Fatal Shooting In Hamden

A man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting early Sunday morning in Hamden as Tyishoun Matheney, 27, of New Haven.

Matheney was shot in the area of Goodrich Street and Butler Street during the early morning hours on Sunday. He had been shot multiple times in the back when police found him.

Matheney was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died nearly four hours later, according to Hamden Police Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said an investigation found that Matheney was involved in a "heated" argument before being shot, and he was shot several more times after he fell to the ground.

Police are continuing to investigate the homicide, according to Smith.
