Victims Identified In Triple Fatal Hamden Accident

Three people were killed in an early Sunday morning crash in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police have identified the three victims that died in an early morning crash on Whitney Avenue on July 22. The driver of the vehicle was Maksims Frolovs, 21, of Monroe, and the passengers were Edmonds Mihalenkos, 26, of Bridgeport, and Hiadlas DeOliveira, 29, of Derby, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Police responded to the accident scene at 2:26 a.m. on July 22 and Hamden Fire Rescue personnel arrived immediately thereafter and rendered medical assistance to the three occupants. A Hamden Fire Department Paramedic subsequently pronounced them dead at the scene, according to Smith.

Smith has said that a preliminary investigation “revealed that the vehicle was exiting the Route 40 Connector at a high rate of speed. The vehicle crossed 4 lanes of Whitney Avenue before striking a tree.”
