Wanted Man Drops Cocaine While Fleeing From Police: Hamden PD

Two men were arrested on various charges stemming from an investigation into a reported assault at Slyce Pizza, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — An investigation into a reported assault at Slyce Pizza in May led to the arrest of two Hamden men on various charges.

On May 26, Hamden Police responded to a New Haven location to investigate an assault that occurred at Slyce Pizza, located at 141 Arch Street, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that a physical altercation occurred between two female patrons.

The ex-boyfriend of one of the women, Daryl Belton, allegedly displayed a firearm in a threatening manner toward his ex-girlfriend, Smith said.

Officers searched for Belton, but couldn’t locate him and later learned that there was a protective order against him.

Officer William May submitted an arrest warrant application for Belton to Meriden Superior Court.

During the early morning hours on June 9, May and Officer Tim Brown located Belton and Roger Sullivan on Dix Street.

Belton was promptly arrested and taken into custody, according to Smith.

Smith said a search of his motor vehicle led to the discovery of a fully charged stun gun.

Sullivan, while fleeing on foot from officers, dropped 1.1 grams of cocaine, according to Smith.

Smith said a computer inquiry revealed that Sullivan was wanted on five arrest warrants. He was subsequently arrested and transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Hamden Police arrested Belton, 44, of 28 Dix Street in Hamden, on charges of violation of a protective order and weapons in a motor vehicle.

Belton, who was detained on a $100,000 court-ordered bond, is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on Thursday.

Police also arrested Sullivan, 39, of 48 Beacon Street in Hamden. He was charged with three counts of second-degree failure to appear, two counts of first-degree failure to appear and possession of narcotics.

Sullivan, who was detained on a $350,000 court-ordered bond, is scheduled to appear in court on June 23.
