HAMDEN, CT — Quinnipiac men’s hockey coach Rand Pecknold threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium before Monday night’s game between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Pecknold, the 2016 AHCA/STX Spencer Pentose Division I National Coach of the Year, was an honored guest of the Yankees and became the first college hockey coach to throw out a first pitch at Yankee Stadium, according to Quinnipiac.

Pecknold was joined on the field by his son, Tate, who celebrated with the Bobcats' head coach after he delivered a strike to the glove of two-time American League Player of the Week Gary Sanchez.
