The Village is reaching out to the Hamden business community to participate in We Are the Village Day by offering discounts to their customers as a way to promote community, love, and unity. This is not a fundraiser, but instead a demonstration of support for values that create community. Businesses offering discounts to their customers on October 24th will be hanging We Are the Village signs in their windows.
We Are the Village’s goal is to be a one stop shop for the youth. In 2020 Founder and CEO of We are the Village, Melissa Atterberry-Jones, recognized a pressing need for youth after school programming. For many of these youth, an after-school program is their only opportunity to get help with homework, take part in extracurricular activities, learn life skills and socialize outside of school. Located at 21 B Pershing Street in Hamden Connecticut, The Village is a safe, secure space for youth to learn, grow and develop.
