Woman Assaulted Firefighter At Police Headquarters: Hamden PD
Police say the woman, who was wanted on three arrest warrants, also defecated on the floor of a prison cell and flooded the cellblock area.

HAMDEN, CT — A 74-year-old Hamden woman is accused of assaulting a firefighter who was trying to give her medical assistance while she was at police headquarters after being arrested for fighting with her boyfriend and “trashing” his apartment, according to police. The woman, who was wanted on three arrest warrants, is also accused of defecating on the floor of a holding cell and smearing the feces on the floor and window and flooding the cellblock area, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
It all started when police responded to a home in the 1700 block of State Street at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 15 on the report of a domestic dispute. Police learned that Daryl Johnston and his girlfriend Dorothy Hart were engaged in a physical confrontation, according to Smith.
Smith said Hart “trashed” Johnston’s apartment and scratched him on the face. Johnston punched Hart in the face, according to Smith. To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.

While at police headquarters, Hamden Fire Rescue attempted to render medical aid to Hart. Smith said she became “enraged” and spit at a firefighter and struck him in the face.
“Hart was placed into a cell where she defecated on the floor, smearing feces on the floor and window,” Smith said. “In addition, Hart was successful at flooding the cellblock area.”
Hart, 74, of State Street, was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, refusal to be fingerprinted, assault of a public safety, emergency medical, public transit or health care professional, third-degree criminal mischief and three counts of second-degree failure to appear in court.
Hart was detained at police headquarters, with a bond totaling $15,000. She appeared in Meriden Superior Court on Oct. 16.
