Woman Assaults, Spits Blood At Officers: Hamden Police
Police say the woman broke into an apartment that was occupied by a 70-year-old woman and her grandson and assaulted responding officers.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden woman is accused of assaulting police officers, including spitting blood and saliva at them, while they were investigating a burglary. At about 8:15 p.m. on July 6, police responded to a Beacon Street address on the report of a burglary-in-progress, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that Christina Salgueiro entered a third-floor apartment that was occupied by a 70-year-old woman and her 10-year-old grandson. Salgueiro entered the home through an unlocked front door, according to Smith.
When police arrived on the scene, Smith said Salgueiro punched an officer several times in the head and “continuously spit blood and saliva at officers, striking an officer in the face.” Salgueiro also kicked an officer in the face, according to Smith.

Salgueiro, 27, of High Top Circle East in Hamden, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, risk of injury to a minor, three counts of assault on a police officer, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree threatening. Salgueiro was held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on July 23.
