Woman Pulls Knife During Argument At Nail Salon, Shocks Innocent Bystander With ‘Electrical Weapon’: Hamden Police

A customer was accidentally struck in the back with the electrical weapon during the melee, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden woman is accused of attempting to stab another woman during an argument at a nail salon and later struck an innocent bystander with an “electrical weapon,” according to police. At about 1 p.m. on Sept. 1, Hamden Police responded to The Nail Spa, located at 1869 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a disturbance, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Katerah Edmundson was involved in a verbal dispute with two female patrons. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

“Edmundson then removed a knife that she had in her possession and attempted to stab one of the females,” Smith said in a press release. “An employee was successful in disarming Edmundson. Police recovered the knife in a nearby trash can. Further investigation revealed that Edmundson then removed a conducted electrical weapon that she had in her possession. As she attempted to use the weapon on one of the females, she allegedly accidentally used it on an innocent bystander. The innocent bystander, who was a customer, was struck in the back.”

Edmundson, 19, of Marne Street in Hamden, was arrested on charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

Edmundson, who was detained on a $5,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 15.
