Woman Punched Restaurant Worker In Face: Hamden Police

Police said the woman was intoxicated and causing a disturbance at the bar and threw glasses onto the floor in the direction of customers.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven woman is accused of punching an employee in the face at TGI Friday’s in Hamden on Monday night, according to police.

Police responded to the restaurant at 2335 Dixwell Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on the report of a customer causing a disturbance, according to Detective Sean Dolan.

Dolan said an investigation found that a customer, identified as Wisdom South, was “intoxicated, yelling profanities and causing a disturbance at the bar.”

“She began throwing glasses onto the floor and in the direction of customers,” Dolan wrote in a news release. “South punched an employee in the face during the disturbance. Various staff members attempted to diffuse the situation until police arrived.”

A restaurant employee was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to Dolan.

South, 25, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, first-degree criminal mischief and three counts of second-degree reckless endangerment. She is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 22, according to Dolan.

Dolan said South also had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Middletown. She was released after posting a $25,000 bond for the Hamden charges and transferred to the custody of Middletown police, according to Dolan.
