Woman Stole $31K From Dead Godmother: Hamden Police
The woman is accused of illegally withdrawing $31,000 from a 99-year-old woman's bank account, two days after she died, police said.
HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden woman is accused of stealing $31,000 from her dead godmother’s bank account, according to police.
Police received a complaint from a North Carolina woman in September 2020 regarding a theft, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
The woman told police that her 99-year-old aunt had passed away and two later, the deceased’s “Goddaughter,” Georgianna Coleman, illegally withdrew $31,000 from her bank account, according to Smith.

Detective Shawn Nutcher conducted an investigation that led to an arrest warrant for Coleman.
Coleman, 75, of Forest Street, was arrested Jan. 29 and charged with first-degree larceny. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 1.
