10 People Injured In Fire, Arson Arrest Made: Hartford PD

A woman set fire to an apartment building, which ended up displacing families from 42 units, according to police.

HARTFORD, CT — A Manchester woman was charged with arson after she lit a fire that injured 10 people in Hartford Thursday, according to police.

The fire occurred at an apartment building located at 820 Wethersfield Avenue around 7:20 a.m. Ten residents sustained non-life threatening injuries.

All 42 apartments were deemed uninhabitable and residents were displaced.

Hartford's fire marshal office determined the blaze was arson. Eladia Vazquez, 38, was charged with first-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor. She was also arrested on a violation of probation warrant.

Bond was set at $275,000.
