19 Local Teams Still In the Hunt for State Titles

As the CIAC state basketball and hockey tournaments wind to their conclusions this weekend, more than a dozen teams from Patch towns in Hartford and Tolland counties are still alive in either the finals or semifinals, with six boys basketball teams looking to advance into semifinal play Monday.

Fifth-seeded Hall High School will meet No. 2 Mercy for the Class LL girls basketball championship either Saturday or Sunday at the Mohegan Sun Arena. All other area schools listed are semifinalists.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Division III

• No. 5 Enfield vs. No. 9 Avon, Tuesday at New Britain HS, 7:30 p.m.
• No. 2 Waterford vs. No. 3 Prince Tech, Tuesday at North Haven HS, 7 p.m.

Division V

• No. 2 Canton vs. No. 3 Cromwell, Tuesday at Maloney HS, 7 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Class L

• No. 3 Farmington vs. No. 10 Wethersfield, Monday at Newington HS, 7 p.m.

Class S

• No. 6 Sacred Heart vs. No. 10 SMSA, Monday at Plainville HS, 5:30 p.m.
• No. 9 Coginchaug vs. No. 20 Weaver, Monday at Plainville HS, 7:15 p.m.

BOYS ICE HOCKEY
