On the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 as Hartford HealthCare, Red Cross and First Responders Give Back

As the nation marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Hartford HealthCare, the mayor of Hartford, the American Red Cross in Connecticut, the Hartford Fire Department and the Hartford Police Department came together to honor the National Day of Service and Remembrance by helping protect Hartford families from one of the most common household emergencies: home fires.

Continuing the spirit of service that emerged in the aftermath of 9/11, volunteers spent the day giving back to the community through the American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, which has helped save lives by installing free smoke alarms and educating families about fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

During the event, volunteers visited Hartford neighborhoods to:

• Install free smoke alarms in homes
• Help families create personalized fire escape plans
• Share lifesaving home fire safety information
• Strengthen community preparedness and resilience

Home fires remain one of the nation's most frequent disasters, making prevention and preparedness critical to protecting families and saving lives.
