8 Charged In Massive Hartford Drug Bust: Report

Police served a warrant on a Franklin Avenue address Thursday.

HARTFORD, CT — Eight people were charged in connection with a large-scale drug bust in Hartford on Thursday, WTNH News-8 reported. Police served a search and seizure warrant at Hot Mammas at 451 Franklin Ave. following a several-months-long investigation.

In the bust, police seized 145 pounds of marijuana, 160 bags of fentanyl, 14 grams of cocaine, hundreds of THC edibles and candy bars, two pounds of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 100 bottles of liquid THC, and 50 bottles of “Lean,” according to WTNH News-8.

Four firearms and $30,000 in cash was also seized. The Hartford Courant reported that the drugs had a street value of $500,000.

Of the eight people charged, three were from Massachusetts, one from Pennsylvania, and four from Connecticut, including Bethel, Andover, and two from Manchester, WFSB 3 TV reported.

According to an online search, the business at 451 Franklin Ave. is called Mama's Hot Delicious Food & Restaurant LLC, and it's been operational for about 17 months.

Police told the Hartford Courant that the business was setup as a "shopping mall" for drugs and "posing as a restaurant."
