Activist To Head Hartford Group Supporting LGBTQ Health
The board of the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective hired an advisor in the Hartford School System to be its new director.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford-based organization dedicated to improving health care within the LGBTQ community has hire a local activist and public servant to lead the group.
The board of directors of the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective (HGLHC) announce recently that David A. Grant will be the organization's next executive director.

Grant will assume leadership of the organization effective July 1.
Grant steps into this role following the retirement of Linda Estabrook, who led the organization for over 30 years.

Grant joins HGLHC after serving as special assistant to the superintendent and deputy superintendent of Hartford Public Schools for the past year.
He also served as the chief administrative officer for the Hartford Court of Common Council as well as executive assistant and LGBTQ+ liaison for Hartford.
Grant holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Connecticut as well as certificates in human rights, special events management and LGBTQ studies.
He also serves as the chief of multiple organizations' board of directors dealing with LGBTQ issues.
"I am honored and humbled to join the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective as its new executive director,”said Grant. “Health care is a human right and the health collective has always believed that high quality care is essential to a healthy lifestyle.
"With the board and dedicated team members, I look forward to building upon its legacy to expand progressive and innovative services to reach even more members of the community. I am grateful to the board of directors for this opportunity to work and move our organization forward together."
HGLHC’s board chairman, Ron Funaro, said “our recruitment committee recognized David’s leadership, commitment, community engagement and inclusive approach to our work and mission.”
