Crews arriving at the 2½-story multi-family home found fire on the first floor extending to the second floor.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control quickly, and searches confirmed all occupants had evacuated, officials said.

No injuries were reported and the fire displaced three families totaling 12 people — seven adults and five children.

The American Red Cross assisted those residents with immediate needs and recovery support.

Roughly 16 hours later, crews responded to a second fire at 436 Edgewood St. at approximately 1:06 a.m. Sunday, May 3.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions in a three-story multi-family residence, with flames on the second floor extending to the third and threatening a neighboring structure.

An aggressive interior attack brought the fire under control, and searches confirmed all occupants had safely evacuated, the HFD said.

No injuries were reported.

That fire displaced three families totaling 12 residents — seven adults and five children.

Assistance was provided by the American Red Cross and CT Transit.

In both cases, the Red Cross provided recovery information, cleanup guidance and comfort kits with personal care items, and said affected families will work with caseworkers on longer-term recovery plans.

The causes of both fires remain under investigation by the Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office.
