HARTFORD, CT — The Hartford Police Department will conduct two overnight impaired-driving enforcement checkpoints this weekend as part of a statewide effort to reduce drunken driving crashes and improve roadway safety.

A second checkpoint will take place Saturday, May 23, during the same hours near 175 New Britain Ave.

The department’s Traffic Division is overseeing the checkpoints as part of an expanded operating-under-the-influence enforcement initiative funded through a grant from the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s OUI Enforcement Program.

Hartford police urged drivers to avoid driving while impaired and to make alternate transportation arrangements if consuming alcohol or drugs.
