1. Major CT History Museum Offers Good Deal When It Gets Hot Outside (patch.com) — Beat the next Hartford heat wave by heading to the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, which is offering free admission on any day the temperature hits 95 degrees or higher through Labor Day. Located in the city’s West End, the museum highlights Connecticut’s past with extensive exhibits and also provides several other free-admission options for families, members, and SNAP EBT cardholders.
2. As West Hartford Center construction continues, some businesses say they're affected (fox61.com) — If you shop or dine in West Hartford Center, expect sidewalk and parking disruptions as a major streetscape project continues in phases through November. Businesses along Farmington Avenue report slower foot traffic but hope for a boost once wider sidewalks, repaved roads, and a refreshed look are finished, with the current phase near Ichiro Hibachi ending late June.
3. Artists visualize freedom in Connecticut exhibit for America's 250th birthday (fox61.com) — Hartford-area art lovers can visit a free “Breaking Free” exhibit in nearby East Hartford, where more than 25 Connecticut artists explore what freedom means 250 years after America’s founding. Hosted at InterCommunity Gallery on Main Street through July 31, the show ties themes of healing, resilience, and inclusion to the mission of a local community health center.
4. Six-figure Powerball prize sold at West Hartford store (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Powerball ticket worth $200,000 was sold at A N J DB Mart in West Hartford, in the greater Hartford area, for the June 1 drawing. The winner hasn’t been identified yet, but lottery officials confirm it’s one of the larger recent Connecticut prizes, turning a routine stop at a local convenience store into a major six-figure windfall.
