Fourth Of July 2026: Hartford Announces City Impacts

The Fourth of July is this Saturday, with the observed holiday taking place this Friday, July 3.

HARTFORD, CT — With America celebrating a very, very special 250th birthday this Saturday, July 4, Hartford leaders have announced municipal impacts regarding services in town.

Hartford residents should plan for changes to municipal services and library hours during the Independence Day holiday weekend.

City officials announced that Hartford municipal offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.

The city's sanitation schedule will also be adjusted.

Trash and recycling normally collected on Friday will instead be picked up on Saturday, July 4.

The Hartford Transfer Station will be closed Friday, July 3.

In addition, all Hartford Public Library locations will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, for the holiday.

Library branches are scheduled to reopen Monday, July 6, with regular operating hours.

City officials encouraged residents to plan accordingly and wished everyone a safe holiday weekend.
