HARTFORD, CTONE Bar + Kitchen, a popular Black-owned restaurant and nightlife destination in downtown Hartford, has closed after serving the community for nearly three years.

Owner and co-owner Corey T. Smith announced the decision in a June 26 Facebook post, thanking customers for supporting the restaurant since it opened in 2023.

"It has been an absolute privilege to serve the Hartford community since our opening in 2023," Smith wrote. "Through countless shared meals, celebrations, and milestones, your unwavering support has been instrumental in our journey thus far."

Smith said the restaurant closed its doors "after careful consideration" as it embarks on "a new chapter."

He invited patrons to stop in for a final meal or drink during a farewell gathering late last month, before the restaurant's last day of business, June 27.

"We invite you to join us for a farewell gathering and enjoy one last meal or drink with us, featuring some of the Best Fish in the City," Smith wrote.

Located at 70 Union Place, just behind Union Station, ONE Bar + Kitchen became known for its American comfort food, soul food specialties, lobster fries, and weekend R&B events.

The restaurant developed a following as both a dining destination and nightlife venue in downtown Hartford.

The business officially closed on June 27.

Smith indicated the closure is intended to be a temporary pause rather than a permanent end to the business, though he did not announce plans for a new location or a reopening date.

No additional details about the restaurant's future have been released.
