HARTFORD, CT — Hartford-based Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut has received a $10,000 grant from the Liberty Bank Foundation to support two of the nonprofit's youth mentoring programs.
The funding will support the organization's Community-Based Mentoring and Big Futures programs, which provide one-on-one mentoring and other resources to young people across Connecticut.
Through community-based mentoring, Big Brothers Big Sisters staff pair children with adult mentors who provide support and encouragement.
The program is designed to help participants develop confidence and social-emotional skills while building a relationship with a trusted adult outside their homes and schools.
The Big Futures program focuses on preparing young people for life after high school. Participants explore education and training opportunities while developing leadership and life skills.
Liberty Bank and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut have worked together for nearly 20 years, according to the nonprofit.

"When community partners step forward in this way, our team can create lasting mentoring relationships that inspire confidence, expand opportunity, and open doors for the youth we serve."
David W. Glidden, president and CEO of Liberty Bank and president of the Liberty Bank Foundation, said the bank seeks to support organizations making a difference in the communities it serves.
"Our children are our future, and together, we can help them learn and grow," Glidden said.
The grant comes as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut marks its 60th anniversary in 2026.
The organization said it has served more than 100,000 children statewide since its founding and does not charge families to participate in its programs.
