1. Hartford-Area Hospital Gets Major Grant To Launch Maternal Health Program (patch.com) — Hartford's Saint Francis Hospital has secured an $85,000 grant to launch the MOM-HEART program, targeting hypertension and preeclampsia risks for pregnant and postpartum patients. The initiative will use community health workers, home blood pressure monitoring, and health equity training to improve maternal outcomes and address racial disparities, with hopes of expanding the model across Trinity Health of New England.
2. West Hartford Public Schools Provides Details of Connecticut School Nutrition Program - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — Families with students in West Hartford Public Schools can now review income guidelines and apply for free or reduced-price breakfasts and lunches for the 2026-27 school year. The district explains who qualifies, how direct certification works through programs like SNAP, TFA, and HUSKY A, and where to find online applications and help completing them.
3. CTDOT City of Hartford Announce 21 New Bus Shelters Through Statewide Enhancement Program (ct.gov) — Hartford bus riders will see 21 new shelters installed across the city, with another 47 stops in design as part of CTDOT's Bus Stop Enhancement Program. The upgrades, the first under the Greater Hartford Mobility Program, promise better protection from weather, ADA-compliant access, and more comfortable waits at high-ridership stops that thousands of Hartford residents use every week.
4. 24-unit Hartford apartment building fetches $1.87M (hartfordbusiness.com subscription) — A 24-unit apartment building at 851-853 Wethersfield Ave. in Hartford recently sold for $1.87 million to a group of Hartford-based investors. The 1935-era, nearly 20,000-square-foot property changed hands from a Rocky Hill owner, with most of the purchase financed through a $1.64 million mortgage from a New York lender.
5. AG Labrador announces $29.6M settlement with Glenmark over drug price conspiracy (krem.com) — A multistate coalition has reached a $29.6 million settlement with generic drugmaker Glenmark over alleged price-fixing, and the first related trial is scheduled in Hartford in late 2026. The case targets executives and companies accused of conspiring to raise generic drug prices, and affected consumers are being directed to file claims for possible compensation.
